Relaxing in the Bunker

Just before sunset yesterday, it appeared the horde of undead had meandered from my bunker to investigate an old slot machine that had rolled down into a gully. I took the opportunity to sneak out and take a picture of a beautiful desert sunset, still green from the alien vapors that have turned my species into immortal brain feeding machines.

Later on I got out my pastels out and drew a picture of a girl I remembered before the Apocalypse began. I think her name was Rita.

Something New

So it is time to change up the ZWN playlist .. this should be accomplished as soon as I can climb up into the abandoned tower and put the new vinyls on the record players.

Stephen King wrote at length about this horror phenomenon in Danse Macabre (1981). The theory is that horror provides a safe outlet to release stress and fear that occurs in our real life.

Retta (Marietta Sirleaf) is a standup comedian on Parks and Recreation. She was recently on the Conan Show and explained how an older woman was giving her dirty looks because the woman thought Retta was playing her rap music too loud.

Nina Simone - Best stuff in analog

This is Nina Simone playing at the Harlem Cultural Festival in 1969. She (and Elvis) are some of the reasons for saving this planet from the domination of living dead.

At night we foraged for abandoned pizza before the undead began their mindless patrols. As we were taking shelter in an empty parking lot my hunting buddy Mike Legg and I spotted the remains of Wil Wheaton's Mustang.

I created a new song list to help you get through the day and night of undead horrors. The rain here in Las Vegas has seemed to slow down the rotting horde ... most are stuck in the mud and have been washed away into Lake Mead.

New ZWN Headquarters

ZWN Headquarters near ruins of Las Vegas, Nevada

We are pleased to announce that ZWN has a new home. The new fortress has a viable chain-link fence and with our methane electric generator we can provide continuous shortwave service for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately, there is (at this time) no running water or sewage capacity but we are currently digging a huge hole at the northwest end of the facility.

If you happen to be at the "radiation-free" side of Las Vegas, give us a visit. Just be sure to shout, "I am NOT a zombie!" at the front gate.

Phantom in the Phone

Every day at 9:00 am and at 5:30 I get a mysterious phone call. When I answer there are three beeps and then the phone hangs up. I've looked up the number on the internet and there is no listing or report.

I am sure it is some telemarketer that has a messed up computer system. Still it is freaking me out a bit.

Day from Night
